Martindale testing machine precautions.

Martindale abrasion test refers to the test of textile products based on the standard system of Martindale method and its relationship, and through this test to test the abrasion characteristics of the fabric, and abrasion resistance is an important index of textile product quality, which directly affects the durability and use effect of the product, and abrasion resistance refers to the resistance to wear and tear between fabrics or with other substances in the process of repeated friction. The machine used to test the abrasion resistance of fabrics is the Martindale abrasion testing equipment.

The Martindale abrasion tester is made according to the standard, but because of the different series of national and regional standards, we can divide them into international standards, American, EU, German, British, Chinese standards, etc. The details are as follows.

International Standards

ISO 12947.2-1998 "Determination of the abrasion resistance of textiles by the Martindale method Part 2: Determination of the breakage of specimens

ISO12947.3-1998 "Determination of the abrasion resistance of textiles by the Martindale method Part 3: Determination of mass loss

ISO12947-4-1998 "Determination of the abrasion resistance of textiles by Martindale method Part 4: Evaluation of changes in appearance".

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards

ASTMD4966-2010 "Martindale abrasion tester for fabric abrasion resistance test".

EU Standards

Martindale testing machine precautions

1.  The friction cloth can not be used repeatedly, each completed test requires replacement of a friction cloth.

2. Wool felt can be used repeatedly until the surface has wear or has been stained when it needs to be replaced.

3. The insole should go to the cloth first, then Martindale wear test.

4. After the test is completed, if the surface of the sample is worn out, broken yarn, pilling or serious pilling, serious wear and other abnormal phenomena, it will be judged as unqualified.
